Join the Mission Ministry Team
The Mission Ministry Team believes that we are all called to follow the Holy Spirit and be the hands of God as we seek to serve God's impoverished people in Brighton, our nation, and around the world, both spiritually and financially.
We welcome your participation at our monthly committee meetings the second Sunday of each month. On occasion, we also hold forums on the third Sunday of the month during Sunday School hour in the Founders Room off the narthex as we share ways you can help change the lives of people.
Organizations that we are involved with that are always in need of your volunteer support to carry out their mission are:

Our church provides facilities for the Central Visitation Program for children who are separated from one or both parents but who may visit with parents only under the supervision of a third party. The program provides a safe and comfortable environment in which children and non-residential parents may visit, allowing the child and parent the opportunity to develop a meaningful relationship. If you would like to volunteer to become a trained volunteer, contact Cheryl Weinstein or Judy Munro.

CASA volunteers are a child's voice in court. They work in the best interest of each child, acting as the eyes and ears of a judge. Volunteers are appointed by a judge and receive training in courtroom procedure, effective advocacy techniques, special needs of children and topics related to child abuse and neglect. A CASA's involvement is vital in determining a safe and permanent home for the child.

Many of us have seen the "Ugly Quilts" or sleeping bags assembled here at our church. Participation in the group does not require fine quilting skills, just the ability to tie knots and enjoy some fellowship. The group always welcomes donations of material, ties, jackets, hats, socks, gloves, batting or personal hygiene items that can be included with the quilts. Contact Gladys Eckman for information. |
